Confirm PayPal on a non-VOIP US number
PayPal asks you to confirm a phone number when you open an account and uses SMS for two-step verification afterward. It does not accept VOIP numbers for these steps.

Why a non-VOIP number for PayPal
Because PayPal sends 2FA codes on an ongoing basis, a rental that keeps the number reachable is the right fit — you continue to receive login and security codes. The line is a real US carrier number, which PayPal’s confirmation step requires.
How to verify PayPal
- 1Start a PayPal verification (or a rental for ongoing 2FA) and copy the US number.
- 2Enter it during signup or in Settings → confirm your phone.
- 3Read the SMS code from your dashboard or the API.
- 4Enter it in PayPal to confirm the number.
PayPal uses the number for ongoing two-step verification. Rent it rather than running a one-time verification if you’ll sign in again.
PayPal verification FAQ
- Verify or rent for PayPal?
- Rent. PayPal uses the number for ongoing two-step verification, so it needs to stay reachable after the first confirmation.
- Does PayPal accept VOIP numbers?
- No. PayPal rejects VOIP numbers for phone confirmation and 2FA. Our numbers are real US carrier lines.
